You know you’re on to something right when you’re imitated/copied
When do you know that you’re on to something right? One answer is when people start imitating you.
Before I startet UI-patterns.com, the term “UI pattern” was not really used to describe design patterns. The term used then was interaction design patterns or just plain design patterns.
I guess I changed that. About a half year after I launched UI-patterns.com, the UI Pattern Factory started and today I just discovered uipatterns.net
While Janne Lammi, the creator of the UI pattern factory has his own approach to a design pattern library (patterns are discussed in forums before they are published and are of good quality while screenshots can be uploaded via flickr by everyone) that I admire, this new site: uipatterns.net blew me away!
What a rip-off! – or – I’ve been ripped off!
Please take a moment to see if you can spot the differences between the these two designs:

Oh well – at least I know I did something right if what I did is good enough to be copied so blatantly.
