Since 2000, I have been one of the biggest driving forces in arranging competitions, etc., within the Scandinavian inline skate scene. My very first competition was held in my former home-town, Hillerød. The format was then a miniramp competition. At the breakdown of the Danish park circuit and Cool Runnings, I got together Terje Frederiksen, and old fellow skater, to organize the first real street competition in Scandinavia, the CRSC. The CRSC was the first real street competition to move contestants and the crowd around town in a double-decker sightseeing bus with an open top. The bus additionally featured a bar serving beer and some serious speakers playing music – keeping the party-like atmosphere to a max throughout the day.
Unfortunately, I ended up organizing pretty much all of it, although that only sparked my enthusiasm for making it bigger next year. With the help from a bunch of engaged and enthusiastic old skaters who constituted the board of the DSA – especially thanks to Morten Engmark, the SRSC (google search) was born in 2002 and became the to date largest setup for a real street competition in Scandinavia. The SRSC 2002 was unique in that we hired two double decker busses instead of just one, and took the busses and the people inside over to Sweden for the first two skatespots. The busses then drove home to Denmark to reach the final spot.
From 2002 and on, the Scandinavian Real Street tour started. The tour consisted of 6 preliminary real street contests in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark (2 competitions for each country) that fed qualified skaters for a final competition (that featured the now legendary double-decker busses). The tour was part of a vision to unite the Scandinavian skating scene. It ran in full form with 6 feeding contests until 2006, where the number was reduced to 3 as I had to spend my time more focused on finishing my master’s degree. In 2006, Seth Nicolas officially took over the main responsibility for organizing the tour, although I again ended up doing as much work to make it happen as I had done the previous years.
I have collected a small collection of articles and flyers from the history that is the SRSC, which toxboe.net (and thereby I) was the main driving force for. The list represents a very sparse glimpse of the competitions I have organized since 2000.
